I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have had a private clinical practice in Portland since 1982. My training is in both psychodynamic psychotherapy and the treatment of trauma. I enjoy working with adults and children in individual therapy. My experience as a writer has helped me work with other artists around creative blocks.

As someone who has worked extensively in the field of trauma treatment, I have learned to value my own self care. Part of this self care is learning—I value studying the latest research in our field. Current research on the brain, the mind-body connection, and the value of interactive approaches to clinical work helps keep my practice fresh and interesting. The personal use of mindfulness techniques has also helped me see their value in the healing process.

My practice also involves providing training and clinical consultation both locally and nationally. I work as a consultant to the CARES NW TF-CBT treatment program, a clinic that treats children and families located at Emanuel Hospital.
